Karin is a gifted jazz and classical pianist who has made her home in the Seattle area for most of her adult life. She graduated from the University of Washington with degrees in music, piano performance and music education. She studied piano with Professor Neil O'Doan at the UW, jazz and jazz arranging with Bill Smith, and jazz piano with Jerry Gray, among others. Karin is the recipient of two Milnor Roberts scholarships, two Bainbridge Music and Art scholarships, and an Artist Support Grant from Jack Straw Productions. Karin recently took first place in the U.S. in the Golden Key composition contest. Karin has had a successful solo performing career with contracts as far away as Europe, Japan, Canada, New York, Denver and Salt Lake City. She has performed two or three times a week for the past sixteen years in the Atrium at the 1201 3rd Avenue Tower, formerly known as the Washington Mutual Tower. She plays at Kelnero in Edmonds on Saturdays, and Station 18 on Thursdays with a jazz trio. She has played long term contracts at many of the hotels in the Seattle/Bellevue area, and at Snoqualmie Casino. Karin loves to take requests and interact with her audiences. She is popular at sing alongs and open mics as she knows over 1000 tunes by heart in a variety of genres including jazz, classical, tango, ragtime, Latin, novelty, dixieland and pop.
