Thunderbirds Cover Band from Lenox, IA

Brothers Stan and Steve Brown originally formed the band in the early 60's, starting out as a 4 piece band, eventually becoming a 5 piece band. The Thunderbirds traveled all over Iowa, east Nebraska, northern Missouri, and western Il. playing 60's rock and roll. In 1966 and again in 1967 the band was asked to participate in a "Battle of the Bands" in Des Moines at the Val-Air ballroom, against "Question Mark and the Mysterians" and "Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs". In 1967 the band released a "45" record on the Libra record label with 2 songs that Steve had written about lost loves (this rare record recently sold on ebay for $950.00). The group disbanded in 1968 when 4 of the 5 members were called to military duty during the Viet-Nam war. In 2005 after being nominated for induction into the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association's Hall of Fame (and inducted in 2006), 3 of the original members (brothers Stan and Steve and Carl Adams) decided to reform the group. Adding 2 other members, the Thunderbirds are once again an active band, playing 60's rock and roll music.
