The Power Of Huey 80s Band from Uxbridge, ON

The Power of Huey is a band dedicated to the music of Huey Lewis & the News. We presently play the "Sports " album in its entirety as well as two more sets of classic Huey Hits. We have over 25 songs in our playlist and can custom learn songs to suit your needs. Our show boosts a high level of musicianship paired with video content that is 2nd to none! The Power of Huey can travel with all production equipment include Lights and sound to make your night something special! The original idea for the band started about 10 years ago when Simon Head (Bass/ backing vocals) and Mikey Hawdon (rhythm guitar) were in a Skype conversation. Simon noticed that Mikey was wearing a 3/4 sleeve Huey Lewis & the News shirt and gushed over how that was his first unchaperoned concert and how much the “Sports” album meant to him. Simon then suggested that they re-record that album at his Insight Recorders studio note for note and cut for cut. A week or two went by when Mikey called Simon saying he had learned all the drum parts and was ready to record. What started off as an extemporaneous remark began a project that never ended. Mikey and Simon always wanted to have Darren Dumas (Mista D of “The Salads”) as the lead singer because of his tonal match for Huey and unprecedented stage presence. Darren recorded some tracks at his home in Stratford Ontario and the band was on its way again. The project moved from hard drive to hard drive, computer to computer until one day in the spring of 2019, The Power of Huey became a reality. . Guitarist extraordinaire Lonny Knapp came was asked to join to the live version of the band. Dennis Kwok answered a Facebook ad asking for a sax player who also played keys. Rounding out the fold is Andrew McMullen, a professional drummer who also played in several bands for the past 20 years.
