Medicinal Purposes Americana Band from Dubuque, IA

Medicinal Purposes is a duo comprised of "Cowgirl" Pearl Olson on bass, guitar vocals and Scott Kerry Guthrie on guitar and vocals. Other members/instruments can be added as needed (i.e.; drums, harmonica, keyboard, etc.) Our music is a convergence of styles including Americana, Blues, Roots, Rockabilly, Rock and Roll and Alt-Country. No heavy metal, no hip hop, no jazz. We do original music and carefully chosen covers. (No "Wagon Wheel", no "Freebird", etc.). Think Steve Earle, Gillian Wlech, BB King, Allman Brothers, Joe Cocker and Johnny & June Carter Cash. Most of our music is dance music, so when we add a drummer, we are fully capable of filling the dance floor. (even without a drummer, you will find yourself tapping your feet). We also write wedding songs for couples. Most couples have a "special song", but we can actually take your love story and write an original song, with unique lyrics and melody! No one else will have a song exactly like yours! It is a forever memory. We can play dinner music, dance music or roaring, good time, get down on the dance floor and party music!
