3 Tips for Choosing Grad Party Entertainment

Chelsea Pellegrino

Years of studying, reading, hard work, and homework all come down to two things: a diploma and an awesome graduation party! Ok, so the party is optional, but we think celebrations are in order after such a great accomplishment! While we can't help with the bachelor's degrees, we can assist in finding vendors for the perfect graduation party. Here are the top 3 things to keep in mind when booking graduation party entertainment:

1. Consider the Venue

The most important factor in choosing entertainment is your venue. For indoor events, make sure the space is big enough to accommodate for the vendor's set-up. No one wants to play guitar on the buffet table! If you're taking advantage of the warmer weather and hosting an outdoor event, keep in mind that some entertainers will require an electrical outlet. A mobile DJ may be self sufficient, but a cover band might need somewhere to plug in a microphone. If you won't have any that are easily accessible, you'll want to consider a different kind of entertainment. A few fun outdoor-friendly options include dunk tanksimpersonators and magicians. You'll also want to make sure to have some tents available to keep vendors (and guests!) out of the elements.

2. Factor in the Guest List

Next, you'll need to take a look at the guest list. If it's a celebration with mostly family of the graduate, make sure the entertainment is appropriate. Live bands and even clean comedians can entertain grandparents and cousins alike. If there will be many little guests present, it's a great idea to keep them occupied with something like a balloon twister or face painter. For celebrations with mostly friends of the graduate, consider the age group. High schoolers will enjoy things like party inflatables and carnival games, while college-aged guests will probably appreciate a good bartender! No matter the age, a photo booth full of graduation-themed props is a great option.

3. Keep Size in Mind

Finally, take into consideration the amount of guests you'll be having at the event. An entire band may be too much for a small celebration, but a solo singer or musician can be just right! Other vendors like caricaturists and henna tattoo artists actually work better with less guests- a smaller guest list ensures that everyone who wants to participate gets a chance to enjoy the fun. For parties with a lot of guests, you'll want vendors who can accommodate a lot of people all at once. Take advantage of the size and hire something unique, like a hypnotist

Whether you're a proud parent, friend, or the graduate yourself, we hope you have fun celebrating this amazing accomplishment. Caps off to the Class of 2015!
