We cover lots of unique parties on this blog, but never before have we seen a party centered around plumbing fixtures! So, naturally, when we saw that TOTO (the largest plumbing manufacturer in the world) used GigMasters to book caricaturist, Neal Portnoy, we had to plunge deeper. Mary Deane, the Showroom Coordinator of TOTO Gallery in Boston, had a specific vision for the event, "We wanted this event to be light hearted. The caricature artist on site drew all of the attendees in areas of the gallery that featured our eco-luxury plumbing fixtures – toilets, urinals and tubs, which provided a great deal of fun for the gathering. " 82 kitchen and bath designers and dealers from around New England gathered at the showroom to see and experience the TOTO products. Mary plans several events throughout the year for TOTO. She says, "It can be a challenge to keep each event special and unique. The caricature artist provided entertainment to our entire group—both for the people who had their caricature drawn and those who gathered around him to watch him draw." Mary made certain that the fun didn't stop with the entertainment. "We played upbeat music, and the caterer, Different Tastes, incorporated Mr. Potato Head and other toys into their displays. The concept of the food served was based on childhood favorites: macaroni and cheese, cupcakes, grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato basil soup shooters, crispy chicken fingers with curried ketchup and miniature beef wellingtons, among other items." Caricaturist, Neal Portnoy, says this of the event, "Mary, my contact was superb, making sure I had everything I needed for setup. It was a very relaxing setting, and my presence and my comedic caricature performance was well received! As far as the clients request to theme every drawing with “bathroom” motif items that they sold, it was my pleasure to have people on the johns, in bathtubs etc. It added to the humorous responses from all that watched and participated. I even had the TOTO brand logo pre-printed on my paper stock for them." We love seeing companies that have lots of fun with their events. There's no better way to solidify relationships with customers, partners, and fellow employees than gathering together, enjoying food, entertainment and conversation.
