Magical Central Park Engagement

Marta Block

The other day we got a fantastic email from one of our members. Magician Chris Anthony recently helped a man plan a proposal that perfectly suited him and his girlfriends and their magical sensibility. We'll let Chris tell the story and you can see a video of it before.

This is one of the most fun gigs that I have been a part of. I was contacted through Gigmasters by a gentleman named Steve that wanted to propose to his girlfriend. He said that he loves magic and she love Central Park, so he wanted to combine the two into something special. Steve got his best friend to meet me a half hour before and give the engagement ring to a guy he's never met before, in the middle of central park. Steve sent me a few pictures of him and his girlfriend, so that I would know what they looked like. When I saw them coming from afar, I started to build a crowd on the mall in Central Park. They came over to the crowd to see what was happening. I started to focus in on them, performing a few customized effects. I didn't want to produce the ring, I wanted Steve to do it, so I set up the scene and he produced the engagement ring in her hand. I stepped back, and he did the magic. He proposed, and she said YES!! He had a limo hidden a few blocks away to whisk them off to a luxurious restaurant to celebrate their engagement. What a special guy. What a great way to propose. It was a pleasure for me to be a part of it.
