The Knot recently released their latest data on wedding trends and wedding spending.
There's interesting stuff, not the least of which is that New York has the highest average budget (over $70,000) and Utah has the lowest ($13,214). If I were in Utah I'd be running a serious business aimed at getting those Manhattan brides to travel west!
But what I got hung up on was that Purple, has become the new "it" color. According to the Knot, 1 in 5 brides is choosing it as a wedding color, which is a 50% increase over 2008.
I'm sure some people are thinking "royalty" or "lavender," but when I hear "purple" all I can think is Prince. I think I'll be spending my morning searching through some of our great 1980s cover bands looking for good Prince songs for a wedding. So far, I'm going with "Nothing Compares 2 U" for my top Prince wedding song.
