This year the summer solstice really snuck up on me. Not that I normally make a big deal of celebrating the solstice (or any kind of deal, really) but I am really happy that it is now officially summer. And since GigMasters is always ready to celebrate...we have some tips for planning your own summer solstice celebration!
Schoooool's Out Today is the last day of school for a number of towns around the GigMasters HQ. If your kids aren't yet done with class, they will be soon. It's time to start looking for ways to keep them occupied. Luckily we have an extensive back catalog of kid's party ideas to get the inspiration flowing. Also, while we don't book babysitters, we do have hundreds of talented kid's performers to keep the kids entertained. Start your search now!
Get Back to Nature The solstice is all about nature (today marks the highest spot the sun will reach in our sky, therefore giving us our longest day of the year) so why not head out for the country. Camping is a great way to celebrate the solstice. Pack the sleeping bag and a tent or lay out under the stars. Bring an acoustic guitar and roast some marshmallows over a fire - once it finally gets dark.
Luau Party What says summer more than a tiki or luau party? Hula dancers, Hawaiian bands and Hawaiian food will keep everybody happy. Also...tiki drinks. Need we say more? One of my personal favorite blogs, A Mountain Of Crushed Ice, is loaded with great tiki drink recipes. I highly suggest you have a look.
Sure, we might be stretching here but the onset of summer is certainly worth celebrating. Let us know about your summer and solstice celebrations by leaving a comment below. Don't forget your sunscreen!
