Top Luxury Wedding Trends from the Knot

Love it or hate it, there's no denying that The Knot has a huge influence on the wedding market and wedding trends. At last week's Wedding MBA editor Carley Roney presented her thoughts on what the next year in wedding trends will bring.

Roney's main point was that luxury is back! This may seem counterintuitive, but Roney's wasn't saying that people are spending a ton of money but that they wanted things to feel special again. A lot of the trends she mentioned don't actually cost more, they just feel better.

1. Black Tie Is Back

Gone is the groom in the tan-colored suit, instead he's wearing a tux. Everything looks better when people are dressed up and options like rented tuxes and black and white bridesmaids' dresses mean this trend doesn't have to be expensive.

2. White Palettes

Pippa Middleton's white maid of honor dress was heard around the world. This is another trend that feels luxurious but doesn't have to cost more, after all white table linens are considered "standard" and are priced accordingly.

3. Themes

People gravitated toward more casual weddings as a way of expressing themselves. Having a "theme" at your wedding allows you to keep the luxury and the personality.

4. The After Party

The after party is fast becoming THE wedding event. Sure you still have the traditional reception with dinner and dancing, but today's brides and grooms want the event to go on all night. After the older guests leave the party continues either at the venue, or at a separate location.

5. Surprise!

Remember the JK wedding dance, the bridal party flash mob? More and more brides and grooms are planning small and large surprises for their guests. From a bride who takes over as DJ to an Elvis impersonator, this is obviously our favorite trend.
