Venue Spotlight: Castle Green

The historic 1898 estate known as Castle Green is a Southern California landmark. Located in the middle of Old Pasadena, Castle Green was once the premier hotel during a time when Pasadena was the winter resort of choice for visitors from the East Coast. Although the Castle Green has now been transformed into a luxury condominium complex, this venue still retains its elegance.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Castle Green is truly a remarkably beautiful location. It was designed with Moorish, Spanish, and Victorian architectural influences. The Castle Green boasts a combination of dramatic features such as domes, pillars, arches, and balconies. Behind its gates, Castle Green is surrounded by several private gardens and public rooms that have been restored to match the original aesthetic. The sunroom, grand lobby (featuring a marble staircase), and Palm Terrace ballroom are all favorites for special events. Although Castle Green is a private venue, there are public rooms and gardens available for a variety of events such as parties, receptions, and weddings. The Palm Terrace ballroom can seat 229 guests and can accommodate 425 visitors for a dance or cocktail event. Similarly, the Salon areas are ideal for cocktail hour and socializing. The entire first floor as well as the garden can hold up to 500 people, making this an ideal destination for both wedding receptions and ceremonies. For interested brides, there is also a bridal room with a private bathroom and full length mirrors. The staff is exceptional and ready to work with clients and help bring their special event to life.

Another interesting characteristic of this unique venue is that it is also a “film friendly” location. It is available for photography sessions including fashion, wedding, and engagement shoots. And with its historic interiors, rooftops, apartments, and lush grounds Castle Green has been featured in various motion pictures, television shows, and commercials. Most recently the location appeared in a Geico commercial and the Tracy Adkins music video “This Ain’t No Love Song.” Despite the title of the music video, Castle Green seems to have a lot to love. With its unique design and historic past it could just be the perfect location for your special event.
