MTD Kingston's Emerging Artist, Steven Husted, bassist/composer, began playing music when he was 6 years old. Right away, his teachers recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a life in music. At age 16, Steven moved wth his father to San Francisco, where he dove head first into the cultivation of his playing. He began studying with bassist Seward McCain while attending the College of San Mateo, where his musical voice began to take shape. After playing with many Bay Area notables, such as Vince Wallace, and teaching for 5 years at the prestigious Stanford Jazz Workshop, Steven moved to LA. While playing a gig at a street fair in Westwood, he was offered a chance to attend UCLA, where Kenny Burrell was building a jazz department. During this time, he had the chance to play with legendary drummer, Billy Higgins and study with virtuoso bassist Roberto Miranda. Steven finally made his way to the Big Apple and immediately started forming his band. Combining his love for all styles of music, The Low End Initiative, reflects a life-long love affair with his bass guitar and the music he hears. Recently relocated home to the Bay Area, Steven Husted & The Low End Initiative deliver world class music sure to please even the most discerning fan.
