Wenonah Brooks Jazz Singer from Trenton, NJ

Wenonah is a traditional, "straight ahead" jazz vocalist with her own band who has performed in many public and private forums for many years. Wenonah has performed with such well known jazz artists as Houston Person, Shirley Horn, Stanley Jordan, Winard Harper, Ralph Peterson, Dave Kikowski, Steve Nelson, Cecil Brooks III and Dennis DeBlasio. Wenonah recently formed a group that performs what she calls "fun/bar" jazz. The group consists of organ, guitar, drums and vocalist. She enjoys working with that group as much as she enjoys her more traditional piano, bass, drums and vocalist. Either group can add additional instrumentation by request such as saxophone, etc.... Wenonah is a fan of straight ahead fun dance music that keeps you moving either on the dance floor or in your seat. Her ballads make you close your eyes and dream. She has also been told that her music is sophisticated and authentic in deliverance. Works in the NY, NJ and PA area and has performed at the Rainbow Room, Honeysuckles and B Smith's in New York City, The Priory in Newark, NJ The Sands Casino, Ballys and Ceasars in Atlantic City and Twins in Washington DC. Wenonah is equally at home in the corporate entertainment arena. Area schools have used her as a resourceful addition to their music education programs. Wenonah is a cantor in her home catholic church and can provide the necessary music before the ceremony, during the ceremony, the cocktail hour and at the reception.
