Chance Bell is a full-time, professional bagpiper with over 10 years of performance experience on both the Scottish Highland Bagpipes and the Scottish Smallpipes. Chance is a Richmond native and learned to play the pipes in his teens. Since then, he has gone on to win many awards and honors with his piping. He is currently ranked as a Grade 1 piper by the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association and has enjoyed much success in music competitions, both as a soloist and a bandsman. He has even competed in the World Pipe Band Championships, held in Glasgow, Scotland. In addition to his competitive achievements, Chance has over 10 years of extensive performance experience at events of all shapes and sizes. Highlights from his performance career include sharing the stage with fiddle-player Alasdair Fraser, and playing at the interment of, entertainer and sausage-maker, Jimmy Dean. Chance studied Music in college, giving him a knowledge of music theory and advanced tuning techniques, which allows him to easily communicate and tune-up with other musicians at an event. When performing, Chance wears a kilt along with proper Scottish attire. He prides himself on maintaining a professional appearance and a friendly demeanor at all times while on the job.

FuneralReviewed on April 5, 2011From Bealeton, VA

Mr. Bell's performance was exemplary...everyone in our family was amazed at his playing.my son is an accomplished musician (professionally) and was extremely impressed.I will certainly try to engage Mr. Bell in the future.I am co-vice chairman of Clan Irwin Association, and have heard thousands of pipers in the past, and Mr. Bell's talent is right up there with the best of them...also, his attention to proper wearing of the tartan is evident.his music is extremely soothing and pleasant and his repertoire is terrific.the church pastor commented to me that this piper was the icing on the cake for the celebration of my sister's life.my sister would have been impressed.
