JR is the quinessential piper. We are so grateful to him for bringing a dignified, traditional pageantry to our special family member's military honors interment ceremony. There is no other instrument that can convey the rich and strong depth of emotion than the bagpipes. JR's piping and presence both celebrated our loved one's life and ancestry and at the same time mourned his passing. The tribute was so much more beautiful and memorable with the confident and enduring sound of JR's bagpipes. JR is a gifted and wonderful piper and a gem of a man. 5 stars are not enough!

J.R. was absolutely amazing. Not only was a great bagpiper but he helped me plan the for things I hadn't thought of for the funeral. As a human, J.R. is simply fantastic. He was so caring and empathetic to what we were going though. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

JR was an outstanding bagpiper who performed for my sisters and brother in law 60th anniversary. He surprised them and played for 45 minutes with different bagpiper tones. I had provided him with things about each of their lives and he wrote a tone specific to their lives. You don't come across a person as talented as JR and what a gentleman he was. I would recommend him to any one needing a super bagpiper for any event. Go The Bash to search him out.

Commander Arthur exceeded all of our expectations. On relatively short notice, we were looking for a piper for a funeral at one of the national cemeteries. He responded promptly, provided complete information and options, accommodated all of our special requests, understood the unique features of a military service, both having participated in so many and having served himself. He took his role seriously, contributed meaningfully to our event, and honored our loved one. We are grateful for his participation in our event.

Having J.R. be the Piper at our wedding was absolutely perfect! We could not have asked for a better person! I will be hiring him again for future events. His talent, ability, and knowledge far exceeding our expectations. I grew up listening to the pipes, and he definitely could be march for Royal Scottish Pipe Band; even the number one pipe band in the world "Strathclyde Police Pipe Band." On top of it all he is a US Veteran like I am so that connection we share and our heritage truly brought everything together. J.R. Arthur was absolutely perfect for my mother's 85th birthday party. He walked down the street from the neighbors house as we all sat outside piping his way to the front of the house where we sat gathered. He played songs I requested that were my mom's favorites, and mixed the playing up with entertaining stories and poems too. And a more perfect distinguished looking piper would be hard to find. He was very organized and got back to me about every question I had. I would definitely recommend him.

We booked JR for our wedding this past May and the level of professionalism was outstanding. He asked lots of questions and gave suggestions to ensure everything would go smoothly for our special day. He even coordinated his banner to match my wedding colors and used the US Navy Flag as his banner since my husband is in the Navy. We cannot thank JR enough for the beautiful music he provided for our ceremony. Needless to say, there wasn't a dry eye in the audience!!

LCDR J.R. Arthur (US Navy Ret) is a super Bagpiper. We choose him for several reasons; he had performed a number of times at Arlington National Cemetary, he was easy to work with, we liked his Scottish Bagpiper appearance, we liked his music (we listed to his music on-line) and he was a retired naval aviator who spoke my deceased father's language. We engaged JR to play the pipes for my uncle's 100th birthday in Rockville, MD. JR was a pleasure to work with, communicated well and went out of his way to may this a unique experience for my uncle. JR used his good sense of humor, knowledge of Scottish and Irish history and traditions, with our memories of special or key events in my uncle's life to weave humorous, personalized introduction to each of the requested songs. As my uncle was a US Naval Academy graduate and a naval career officer, the fact that JR was a USNA graduate as well, made the connection between the two even more special. My uncle and we were thrilled with JR and his performance.

I was very impressed with Mr. Arthur, the bagpiper, whom I hired for my husband's interment of ashes burial. First, his professionalism and attention to detail is impeccable. Secondly, his performance was incredible; he plays the bagpipes so beautifully and with such passion. Third, throughout the planning process, Mr. Arthur communicated with me on a regular basis answering every email and fielding every phone call that I made. Fourth, I, along with the guests, were in awe of his performance - one that will not be forgotten. Lastly, this event would not have been the same without him. I received so many compliments from the guests. He is the best of the best!

Finding a DC-area bagpiper online, "sight-unheard" from Seattle was a bit of a task for a family funeral. JR was absolutely a pleasure to work with.
