Specializing in the authentic sounds of swing that only a full 16 piece jazz ensemble can produce, the Moonlight Express Big Band features some of Southern California's best jazz musicians performing swing and dance standards of the 40's, 50's and 60's. With both male and female vocalist's, the Moonlight Express promises a musical event seldom experienced today.
Led by Christopher Jean, the Moonlight Express presents five saxophones, three trombones, four trumpets, piano, bass and drums, plus female and/or male vocalists. This ensemble has enthralled audiences throughout Southern California since 1995. The Moonlight Express invites you to experience a time when "popular music was good, and good music was popular."
Past performance venues include Steamers Cafe, Disneyland, the Queen Mary, the Balboa Bay Club, the Regal Biltmore, the Pan Pacific Hotel, the South Coast Westin Hotel, the Renaissance Hotel LAX, Descanso Gardens, Orcutt Ranch and the Orange County Fair. Concerts have been performed for the Cities of Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Calimesa, Claremont, Downey, Duarte, Huntington Beach, Irvine, La Habra, Newport Beach, Placentia, San Juan Capistrano, Tustin, Westminster, Whittier and Yucaipa.
The Moonlight Express offers two to four hour performances at very reasonable cost anywhere in Orange County, as well as in nearby areas of Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. We can often negotiate fees and services to stay within your operating budget. The Moonlight Express can provide a high quality sound system capable of covering audiences up to 2,000 people. The band's attire consists of tuxedos for formal and upscale events or Hawaiian shirts over black pants for more casual events. The desired attire is specified by the client.
Most importantly, the Moonlight Express Big Band is very aware that not every event goes exactly according to schedule. Moonlight Express will remain flexible and willing to alter its planned performance to match the actual schedule of your event.
