Recording Artists, Cinnamon Suns, was formed and based in Brooklyn NY in 1968, was the top Caribbean oriented group in New York and winner of LaborDay Carnival "Brass O Rama" competition. The group comprised of musicians from various parts of the Dutch, English and French Caribbean and has performed in many parts of the US and Canada, attracting massive crowds at every performance. Cinnamon Suns have performed at the Fillmore East theatre in New Yorks' East Village and many other popular venues headlining with other recording artists such as, Jay and the Americans,Bob Marley and the Wailors, The Mighty Sparrow Calypso (King of the World), Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, Kool and the Gang, Ron Carter, (top upright bass player, Stanley Banks (bassist for George Benson), Frankie Lymon's Teenagers, Archie Bell and the Drells, The Chi-Lites, Pete Seeger, and King Curtis, just to name a few. Original recordings include, Funkapy, Party Time, Reggae Express, Talk of Love, Love Your Brother and Spoonful of Soul. The late Keith Alexander, alias Keith Diamond, composer and arranger of the hit "Caribbean Queen" was a four year member of Cinnamon Suns from 1972 to 1976 as their bass player. Party Time" was one of the songs that previously appeared on 45 and it's definitely the funk bomb on the album. The liner notes to the LP have this to say about it: "I remember spinning Party Time for a company of three, one afternoon, and I cannot forgot the warm reaction from the calypsoul arrangement that assailed the ears. Two of the group got up and gyrated on their own version of Soul Train." "...if you - record buff, partygoer, musictheist, or whatever - can fathom the sounds of Reggay Express which is Number One throughout the English-speaking Caribbean at the time of writing...then you're experiencing just the dawn of the Cinnamon Suns, because they promise to be back with another sunny LP to blow your mind/tap your feet/do your thing." "Cinnamon Suns Today" is now based in Spring Hill in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you some of the best Caribbean and World Music in the industry.
