Irvin Music Studio Guitarist from Asheville, NC

Sam Irvin IV grew up in Brevard, NC, and began playing guitar on his seventh birthday. Showing more interest in music than anything else, he remained committed to practicing hard and eventually picked up trumpet in middle school as a secondary instrument. After relocating to attend UNCA, where he obtained duel degrees in jazz studies and philosophy, Sam continues to strive for variety and excellence in his professional and musical life in Asheville. Sam has taught lessons on guitar and trumpet at Asheville Music School since 2014. He also works for Moog Music Inc. & LEAF. He also maintains a home music studio where he teaches lessons and offer audio engineering services. Sam has cultivated a full sound on solo guitar by studying the classical greats (like Carcassi, Guilliani and Sor), and by arranging jazz standards and pop tunes into "chord-melodies." He has played solo guitar arrangments of such hits as the "Forrest Gump Theme" and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" for ceremonies, right beside Bach and Mozart pieces. Though, his playing isn't trapped in tradition. He explores a diverse repertoire of world folk songs as a duo with Linda Kendall-Fields on violin for some Norwegian, Irish or Italian classics, among others, and he sometimes enjoys playing noisy experimental music as well, with synthesizers and heavy guitar effects, like in his duo "Dinobirds," in which he performs with drummer Zack Downes. Sam is always looking for more musical opportunities and working diligently to deepen his skills.
