Jacob plays very well and is an incredibly talented musician. However, his business acumen leaves something to be desired. We booked Jacob in the summer of 2023 and secured his services with a half down non refundable deposit for an early December 2023 date. Around September, we needed to adjust the date up 1 week and were unable to get a hold of him through multiple channels. We tried on multiple occasions to reach out to him, but were unsuccessful. I finally reached out to TheBash directly to intervene, and only then did I receive a message from Jacob indicating him being very busy. I did not hear from him again until the night before the event at 9:30pm.

In July, I agreed to hold both dates until 11-1 at no charge. You reached out over 100 days in advance, while I was hospitalized with COVID. You called the Bash in less than 48 hours. When I explained I'd been ill, you joked about whether it was life-threatening. We spoke again 6 weeks in advance to confirm the date. I texted you at 4pm (not 9:30) the day before the event to confirm the details, which was 24 hours before I was to arrive. At your request, I: wore a wizard costume, learned a new piece of music, brought an extremely rare, 200-year-old museum-quality instrument, played an extra 45 minutes for free, and gave you a complimentary copy of my CD. When I submitted my request, Jacob sent me a very thorough response including links to his videos so I could get a taste for his talent and style. I went back with a few questions, including asking for a set list, which he promptly was able to provide, and was perfect for what we were looking for. He played acoustic well-known songs only for our client reception/dinner, and it was exactly what we wished for. A few even commented on his talent. Very happy with Jacob and his professionalism. Highly recommend and I would use him again if we come back to town.

I was so thrilled with Jacob from the beginning. I met with him and had a phone interview prior to our engagement. I let him know we wanted a variety of music and encouraged him to sing after hearing his beautiful speaking voice. He claimed he is not a singer, but, trust me....he is!!! He played 3 instruments for us and also sang a few with his guitar. He is a wonderful singer and should put this on his resume'. He made an individualized concert for us doing exactly what I requested. He also gave us some wonderful insight into the instruments and music he was presenting. Totally beautiful evening!! Jacob Johnson was a delight to work with. He communicated often and was always quick to reply. He visited our location before the event to get a feel for the room and on the day of the performance arrived early. He is extremely knowledgeable about the histories of the instruments he plays and their place in literary history and is enthusiastic about sharing that knowledge. His talent is amazing. He easily played pieces on both the lute and the guitar that spanned centuries. Our patrons were educated and entertained. He was exactly the kind of performer that our library loves to book. I would highly recommend you consider him for your next event!

He played well, was timely, accommodating but a very poor communicator and made it difficult to complete scheduling.

Hi Sofia, I'm sorry you were disappointed in the speed of my communication. I made every effort to respond in a timely fashion. As I had explained in our first conversation, I was out of town with limited access to communication for the week leading up to your event. Unfortunately, as a company of one, the 'phone bank' isn't staffed while I'm playing for a wedding or driving across the country. My usual business hours are 10 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday, and I always respond within 48 hours. I am sure you understand that while I am with a client, my phone must be on silent.
