J & The Band is Virginia Beach's #1 Party Band! The band was formed in 2014 and feature both Female and Male Lead Vocals,Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard, and a full 3-piece horn section, playing many of your Top 40, Classic Rock, Beach, Motown, Oldies, and current favorites horn band music. Our music includes hits from Bruno Mars, Cee Lo Green, Pharrell Williams, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, James Brown, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, Maroon 5 and many others. We provide a wide mix of live music played by some of the best musicians in the 757. Our music is great for weddings and corporate events because it covers a wide range of musical tastes. You just can't go wrong with this great music!
The members of J & The Band come from a variety of backgrounds, professions and a wide array of musical experience. Out in front of the band are Dawn Marie Smith and Anthony Gracia two very talented vocalists who also play guitar. Our Rhythm section consists of recording artist Zach Bridges on Keyboard, Dr Randy Bittner on Bass, and Pat Sciortino on Drums. Together they are the heartbeat of the band. Next is our horn section, filling out the tunes with the smooth sounds of Manny Hernandez on Trumpet, Ken Kellar on Trombone and Steven Thorne on Tenor Saxophone and flute. Having a one of the top horn sections in the area is what separates J & The Band from other bands!

What a wonderful time we had with the band, they were very professional and really worked with us.
There had never been a band at the past Garden Parties, so it was a risk just having a band. These guys and Dawn were awesome. They had people dancing and enjoying their music from the time they started playing. This band is great with all ages and can get the party moving .
Dawn , the lead singer is very good and plays to the crowd. The horns are fantastic and add alot to their sound.
Highly recommend them to anyone who wants to listen to great music , keep a party going, very accommodating, caters to all age groups and just a good time.

Awesome night with J and the Band! They were very talented and accomadating with our CHS All Classes Reunion! Each and every musician we're masters of their instrument and the vocals were awesome as well. I would definitely recommend them for a great night of entertainment!

Steve, Thank you so much for having us provide entertainment for your reunion. It was an honor playing for your guests. Having the opportunity to play for every graduating class from Chowan High was very cool. The level of thought and detail the organizing committee put into your event was simply outstanding. I know you had a lot to do with that and it turned out to be a great evening. I personally was blown away by the stories shared by the panel group on what was news of the day from each class while they attended Chowan.
