HARBOR JAZZ ENSEMBLE is a collective of experienced jazz musicians who love what they do, and are dedicated to bringing their clients excellence in the unique language of jazz. For more than 15 years HJE has been providing entertainment for a variety of occasions; background music for dining, lively improvisational jazz for cocktail hours and socializing, swing tunes for dancing and romancing. A trio or quartet from HARBOR JAZZ ENSEMBLE is a great choice of musical entertainment for your home party, corporate reception, community fair or office gathering. Our typical HJE QUARTET features a horn player backed by rhythm section of guitar or piano, bass guitar and drums. We also have wonderful vocalists, each bringing her individual style to the band's presentation. THE ITTY BITTY BIG BAND is Harbor Jazz Ensemble's newest combo, a six-piece jazz group consisting of trumpet, tenor sax, trombone and rhythm section. As the name suggests, this group plays fresh, cool arrangements reminiscent of a Big Band, and at the same time showcases all the musicians' improvisational skills and their joy in sharing this truly original American art form called Jazz! HJE performances in the South Bay area include the Torrance Festival of Arts, swing dances at People's Place in San Pedro, concerts at libraries in El Segundo and Diamond Bar, and at the Manhattan Beach Older Adults Program. Recently HJE has been featured at private retirement communities in San Pedro, Torrance and Palos Verdes, at Feed and Be Fed urban garden in San Pedro, and with an ongoing monthly engagement of HJE TRIO at Creme de la Crepe, Rolling Hills.
