Swing Time - a Jazz Combo Jazz Band from Virginia Beach, VA

My name is Larry Weintraub and I the leader of Swing Time a small combo that plays jazz and swing. We can play for listening or dancing. Swing Time will add an air of sophistication to your event whether it is a reception, a corporate event, dance or festival. All of our band members are either retired from the military bands or still on active duty in the band field. I myself am retired form the US Navy Band in Norfolk, VA as a tenor sax/clarinet player. I also served in an Army Band in Colorado Springs, CO after college. Swing Time has played for the grand reopening of Waterside, the Seawall Art Festival, events at the Court House Galleries for many years. Lately we have been playing at assisted living facilities bringing joy, happiness and fond memories to the residents. Like the other members of the group I have traveled all over the world as a Musical Ambassador for America going into different countries showing the good side of America through music. I've played in the West African countries of Benin, Gabon and The Congo as member of the US Navy Show Band. As a member of the Jazz Ensemble I've traveled to Trinidad & Tobago, and Ireland for band tours. In the USA I have played from Key West, FL to New York City and beyond. As a member of the US Navy Atlantic Fleet Band I've played in fourteen Military Tattoos. The band was in the Halifax, Nova Scotia International Tattoo in 1997. In 1999 I was the tenor sax soloist in the Scope International Tattoo in Norfolk, VA. On the civilian side I played in the backup bands for The Four Tops, Al Martino and Carmilla Quinn (Irish singer). In addition I have played in twenty third musical shows ie "Guys and Dolls" etc. As part of the Navy Band I have played for Chuck Mangione several times. Other name people we played for were Lee Greenwood, Keeley Smith, Marc Stamm (NYC studio and jazz trumpeter) and Roan Tinan (one of the Three Irish Tenors). As a member of the Army Big Band out of Ft. Carson, CO we toured all over Colorado, Wyoming. N & S Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. A very memorable job was playing in Glenn Miller's hometown of Clarinda, Iowa. My Army Big Band was the featured band for the Glenn Miller Festival.
