Growing up in New York City, Alex Zawilak was exposed to an immense diversity of cultural experiences. Frequent trips to the city's museums, and performing venues of all types left a lasting mark. This has inspired him to cultivate music of various styles through the medium of the guitar. With the diversity of NYC as a guide, collaboration with a wide gamut of artists of different mediums and cultural backgrounds has enriched his life. Highlights include a televised jazz concert on Polish Television and a solo recital In Tirana, Albania. Alex studied Jazz performance with Enos Payne at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. He was also formally trained at the Mannes College of Music, New School for Social Research and ASU. Informally, he has honed his skills playing everything from Klezmer to Rockabilly in gigs over the past 27 years.
