Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ca, Matthew Heath studied Classical Composition and Jazz Studies at Saddleback College before receiving his bachelor degree from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City. Matthew has performed and/or recorded with a wide range of artists including Nicholas Payton, Dave Liebman, Tony Malaby, Matt Wilson, Jon Gordon, Joey Sellers and Reggie Workman. Matthew is a recipient of the NEA Meet the Composer award and grant. Matthew continues to perform with various duo, trio and large group settings. In 2015 Matthew released a debut recording of all original material entitled Spaces | Places.
