Learn what you can do better than anyone else can do. Our skills are all as unique as our finger print. I am a speaker who helps his audience accelerate their growth by over coming obstacles and doing what they do best. My expertise in overcoming obstacles comes from being the guy who spent 20 years making all of America's restaurants and workplaces smokefree. It was one of the biggest social norm changes of our time. I am also one of only three people alive to have been attacked by a giant octopus and survived. Then just last year my yacht exploded off the cost of Washington causing me to have severe hypothermia and near death when the Coast Guard arrived. I don't use these experience to recruit smoke-free advocates or octopus wrestlers, just as examples of experiences in over coming obstacles and learning to do what no one else has done. I use the Captain mantra because I have spent thousands of days at sea and it is part of my soul and part of what makes my message unique. There is no one on the earth who has done what I have done or who can say what I can say. I don't bill myself as a humorist, but there is a lot of humor and a lot of fun with props in my presentation on this inspiring topic.
