Corporate FunctionReviewed on July 15, 2006From Big Sky, MT

Band performed very well. However, leading up to the event, communication with the band was very poor. After the band committed to our event and deposit was received, I left several messages for a reply that we were still on for my event. It took a week and a half. Furthermore, the original drummer was committed to performing the day after my event. The band leader had the gull to ask me to pay for a flight to get him to that other event. When I told him no, he implied that my show would be less the their best. I suggested that the other event pay for his transportation. That it was not MY responsibility to fly him to an event that was not for me. Then he asked that I pay for a ticket from Denver to my event, so they could trade it in for the drummer to fly to the other event. I said no, and asked for a back-up drummer. I will never recommend this band to any other meeting planner. EVER!

WeddingReviewed on July 30, 2005From Rapid City, SD

For this band to refer to themselves as a "Wedding Band" definitely leaves me puzzled. I guess maybe I expected to much, but when I think "Wedding Band", I think a band that will announce the bride and groom's first dance, a band that will get the crowd involved, a band that is happy to announce the wedding party, and a band that makes sure that SOMEONE is informed on what is going on (bride, bride's mom or dad, maid of honor, etc). However, what we got with Band of Gold was a bunch of empty promises and disappointment. To start things off, I hired Band of Gold not only to play at the reception, but also asked for Viv to sing at the ceremony and for the guitarist to play at the ceremony. Dale had told me the whole time that they would be at the rehearsal... but at the last minute, he let me know that they would not be there. That wasnot ideal for me, but it seemed okay, these guys were "professionals" so I figured that they could do it without much practice. Then the day of the wedding I got a call from Dale, I didn't get to the phone, so he left a message stating that the guitarist (yes the one that Dale brags about that has been in numerous magazines, etc.) was not going to be able to make it, he was sick. However, he assured me that everything would be okay because he had another band member that could sit in for the guitarist. What Dale did not tell me was that this was a keyboardist (not exactly the type of musical instruments I had pictured at MY wedding). Well...they show up for the ceremony and to say the least, they do not look very professional... I had another girl hired to sing other songs and she ended up playing the keyboard for the Band of Gold guy some of the time and she sung one of the songs that Viv was going to sing and the other one did not get sung at all! :(...they still got payed for this work. The reception was a different story, the first dance was supposed to be really funny... Dale had learned "Grow Old with You" by Adam Sandler...but noone even heard him announce the first dance and you could not hear the band well enough to even know what song they were singing. Dale came up to me at the beginning of the reception and apologized for the guitarist not being there...he said "we don't ahve a clue where he is" (well on the phone message earlier he said he was sick, so was he sick or lost...they did not even have their lies straight) I also talked with Dale at this time and gave him a list of my wedding party and asked him to announce them...he took the list, but the wedding party was never announced. The band only played a few songs and then would break for about 30 minutes. The songs that played during the breaks were horrible 80s songs and there were only like 8 songs...they just continued to replay and replay (Paula Abdul sticks out in my mind). Then to top it all off, I look up and the band is packing up... Dale had promised me that we would have a chance to have them stay longer if we needed them to. Anyways, one would think a band manager would make sure that the bride was aware that the music was ending. Erik (my husband) was very upset and asking what was going on, but my dad likes to keep the peace, so he just asked them how much money it would take for them to stay an hour longer. YEP...you guessed my dad payed them MORE just so they would stay longer....they never even did what had been promised! This band is totally unprofessional and the only regret I have when looking back on my wedding is having them play!! I always said I would have live music at my wedding, but after this, I wish I would have just had a DJ...it would have been cheaper and a hell of a lot more fun!

I am quite surprised by this review because the feedback I got from the bride was very complimentary. After the wedding she sent me a card saying "Thank you so much for everything! You guys have been great!". A photocopy of the card mayed be viewed in the photo section of this website. We played everything we were asked to play and more, and stayed for an extra two hours. We did additional rehearsals above and beyond what we normally do in order to accomodate the bride's ever-changing requests for music, including requests for music two days before the event. Even though I had to pay the musicians for the extra rehearsals and the extra time at the gig, I didn'

Private PartyReviewed on January 18, 2005From Lakewood, CO

Band of gold's performance was very good. very professional in their demeanor as well as their looks. Their music covered a wide range of tastes. And everyone at the party had a great time and said that they enjoyed the band very, very much. I would hire them again if the need arose.

WeddingReviewed on June 26, 2004From Casper, WY

A year after our wedding, my wife and I decided to hold a reception party for about 200 friends. We hired Band of Gold to entertain. They were terrific! Not only was their music fabulous, but they were great at reading the crowd and knowing exactly when to speed it up or slow it down. Like many of our guests, we only missed dancing to one song the entire night (and that's because we were called out for photos!) When the party finally wrapped up, everyone was still on the dancefloor not wanting to stop. I highly recommend this band to anyone looking for terrific and talented entertainment!
