You won't find another Irish/Celtic band on Gigmasters like us! Ockham's Razor, based out of Seattle, is an Irish roots band specializing in what they've termed "hard stompin' Irish folk." With the blazing heat of Katie Corcoran's fiddle, the gentle lilt of tin whistles and keening, passionate voice of Kríostóir Clements, the throbbing charge of Tom Rooney's guitar, the steady, unwavering hand of Nathan Marble on stand-up bass, and the human metronome himself, Dave Forrester, on drum kit, Ockham's Razor is carving out a comfortable niche for themselves in the world of Celtic music. Hailed as a "cross between the traditionalism of The Chieftains and the hard stomp of The Pogues," in the two short years since forming, the Razors have produced two albums (2006's eponymous debut and 2007's Ten Thousand Miles To Bedlam), embarked on two West Coast tours, and opened for Irish music luminaries, The Chieftains. Their album, Ten Thousand Miles To Bedlam, was chosen by Scottish Celtic Radio as Album-of-the-Week in February 2008, and garnered high praise and airtime on radio stations from Canada, the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, and Germany. Ockham's Razor's live shoes have proven to be a large draw at various music festivals, including the Northwest Folk Life Festival, the largest folk music festival in the U.S., as well as Highland Games Festivals and folk music showcases. Their youthful and exuberant approach to their music and performances has gathered reviews as varied as "frenzied and frenetic," "Turbo-Celtic," "Ethnic Punk," and "Seattle's premier Irish band." The band is currently gigging around their home base in the Puget Sound while working on material for their third release. "After opening for the Chieftains, we want to create an album that concentrates on our musicality," says Clements. "With the last album we proved that we can produce a balls-to-the-walls sound with frenzied reels and hard, heavy, stompy beats; this time we want to hone that while refining our ability to really shine within the tradition of great Celtic music." Not too loud to drive people off and not so quiet to put the audience to sleep. Ockham's Razor is NOT your father's Irish band. Let us know what YOUR needs are and we will ensure your audience is having a good time. -------------------------- If you are even considering having an event, contact us! Let us know when the event is planned for, how many people you can expect, will there be a stage and soundsystem already set up and how long you want the band to play. Shows around Seattle are easier to accomodate but out-of-town shows are considered as well. Travel and lodging will need to be taken into consideration. We are a fun, young band who loves being on stage (and off!) and having fun with the audience. Don't let our appearance scare you. We're not a rock band thats going to scare people off. Our audiences range from 20 yo's out for the first time all the way to 70 yo's who enjoy hearing traditional songs presented in a new, exciting way. We can also adjust our line-up depending on the size of the venue. ------------------------------ VIDEOS - You can find several videos of us on YouTube. Do a search for "Ockham's Razor" and "Foggy Dew", "The Quickening" and "Baidin Fheilimi"
