The Dukes of Destiny are Philadelphia's longest-lived and best loved blues and old school R'n'B band. The Dukes have been together for over 29 years and have played in a wide variety of venues including local clubs, festivals, swing dances, weddings, private and corporate events,and concerts. Regular, ongoing gigs include the Mermaid Inn, the Chestnut Hill Garden Fest, the Pastoruius Park Concert Series, the Commerce Square Concert Series, and the AIDS Walk, all in Philadelphia. They have also performed at the PA State Arts Fair in Harrisburg, the Yo Philadelphia Festival and River Blues at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia, Longwood Gardens, the State Street Blues Stroll in Media, PA, and The Spring Garden Fair and Fall Arts Fairs in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, Philadelphia's world renowned World Cafe Live.
An exciting and hardrocking band, the Dukes feature unique arrangements of blues and soul standards, several top notch original compositions, an exciting stage show, and excellent musicianship. For the past 30 years they have pleased both audiences and critics alike with their unique approach to blues, soul and R'n'B. The Dukes are a 6 piece band (bass, guitar, piano, harmonica, drums and vocals). All 6 of the members sing. Combined, the Dukes have more than 200 years of playing experience. In addition to their outstanding ensemble and solo instrumental work, they feature two talented and gifted lead singers in Arlyn Wolters and John Colgan-Davis. They have recorded four CD's and are regularly featured on blues radio programs in the Philadelphia area.
