The Jesters Blues Band from Portland, OR

This band has been performing together since the opening of the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon. Back then they were first known as the McMenamin's Marching Band, then The Jesters. Early gigs had them selling Terminator and Ruby Ale at the Blue Moon Tavern, then marching down to the Crystal to help people discover the new ballroom. Many years of gigs inside and outside of the McMenamins kingdom followed. The band split briefly but then reformed as the Transcendental Brass Band. Now the gigs involved the Oregon Brewers' Festival, the UFO parade in McMinnville, and a few gigs for various clients at the Portland Convention Center. The band reformed yet again as The Vaporizers, without a sousaphone this time - a five piece rock band with two horn players. By this time the band had been together for ten years and had a song list that was very long and comprehensive. The band was playing traditional New Orleans tunes as well as original fusion tunes and popular vocal hits. Lately, the marching bug has bit yet again. At this point, the band is a ten piece unit, with three percussionists, three horns, guitar, sousaphone, and Lady Hooptie as drum majorette. They are entirely self contained and need no setup time - they walk in and walk out while playing, and they are quite the visual band, with a sousaphone and a backpack amplifier for electric guitar. This band has been successful in every kind of gig situation, whether it is a company picnic or party, a wedding reception, or a sidewalk gig outside a venue that quickly becomes a stage set inside the venue.
