When a fishmonger partners with a chef who studied agriculture at SUNY Cobleskill, the result is Farmer & the Fish. Farmer & the Fish is about providing a community-oriented restaurant where people can meet and enjoy reasonably priced, locally grown food and high quality seafood. Opened in 2016, Gramercy Farmer & The Fish is our New York City counterpart to Purdy's Farmer & The Fish in North Salem, NY. Our five acre farm shares it's bounty directly with you with fresh produce from our terraced fields, greenhouse, and high tunnel. Our raw bar features a collection of fresh seafood from NY's own Downeast Seafood, including oysters, clams, shrimp & crab. Our four acre farm "Purdy's Farm" is located next to our restaurant, Purdy's Farmer & The Fish, in North Salem and supplies all of our restaurant’s produce. We aim to grow and serve the freshest, most nutrient packed, and sustainable food around. We harvest vegetables seven days a week and bring them straight from the farm into the back door of the kitchen. To help close the nutrient cycle from farm to kitchen, we compost our pre-consumer food waste and use that material, along with natural rock minerals, to feed the soil ecosystem, which feeds the plants and then us. We even make our own fertilizer every year with seaweed and unused fish parts. Please join us for a true 'farm to table fish house' experience!
