Acoustic...Electric...Energetic...Eclectic. This is the duo Karen and Joe. Karen Davis and Joe Pla combine the laid-back cool of acoustic rock with the power of 60s and 70s rock - with a little psycheldelia thrown in for spice. Karen's performance incorporates the emotional directness of Nina Simone with the poise of Billie Holliday. Vocally, she has the power of Grace Slick and the smooth lyricism of Joni Mitchell with the down-to-earth narrative quality of Tracy Chapman. Joe's a stategic player, laying the perfect melodic complement on top of Karen's propulsive driving acoustic rhythms. The songs, ranging from 50s Rock and Roll to 90s grunge and everything in between - including 60s-70s Classic Soul - are all played with great verve and as well as sensitivity. And they all rock!
