Stand up comedian. Blue humor, dark humor. Self deprecation. Observational humor. Clean humor. I have the ability to do a variety of impressions. I also have numerous bits showcasing my singing ability. I have about 40 mintues of material and 30 minutes of clean material. I can host, middle and have closed many shows. Whatever I am needed for, i am capable of doing. I am going into my Fifth year of comedy and have perfromed at Major clubs, from NYC to LA.
Born March 17th 1979 in Quincy Florida. He was brought up in Camden, New Jersey before making the transition to Hartford, CT in 1990. Maurice was artistically inclined since an infant. He first blew notes at the age of 3. During that same time, he developed an affinity for visual art. His primary outlet was through illustration. As an adolescent, he immersed his artistic appetite into comic and sequential art, and he also wrote the stories for said art.
He started having courage to sing publicly during his college years in the late 90's. He attended Eastern CT and majored in Graphic Design, and received a B.A in studio art, 2004. Though Hip Hop seemed to be imbedded in his spirit, it wasn't until 2003 that he delved into the performing aspect of Rap. Before long, he was embattled with other MC's in rap battles as well as 'Open Mic'in' it whenever the fervor would be quenched. Simultaneously, he was heavily known for singing cover songs at many open mic venues throughout Connecticut. He would be known for his rapping at the hip-hop venues, and singing at the R&B spots.
He had a penchant for Poetry since the age of 8…and an avid sense of humor. He took poetry classes in college, as well as vocal classes. He eventually transitioned into a poet/spoken word artist in the summer of 2008, using that avenue of art as his primary focus. His style infuses hip-hop and R & B with Gospel Overtones. His mission was to hopefully inspire people against monotony while showing appreciation for art and shedding light on himself as a person. He also views positive poetry as therapy that can hopefully improve inadequacies of people (starting with self) if studied and applied. True words reflect the soul of the author. A metaphorical mirror, making the management and possible improvement of blemishes that much more possible. He's had training at the Actos Gym, in Hamden Connecticut, ran by respected Hollywood casting director Reno Venturi., fall of 2013. However, since he was a child, he always had a major sense of humor. Ever the class clown if you will, which brought many students and teachers joy, throughout the years, but also got him in equal amounts of trouble. Since 2002, he mulled around with the idea of doing stand-up comedy but never had specific direction. It wasn't until Jan 19, 2014, that he met Hartford Native, Tyrone Burston, in a Face Book joke group, called "Roasters Anonymous", CREATED BY MAUIRCE GREEN, where people basically poked fun at each other, all day to pass the time and perfect their comedic pursuits… Maurice saw that Tyrone started doing standup comedy in the fall of 2013. He messaged Tyrone, asking what he had to do to get begin his personal Comedy quest… the Comedic fire was CALLING Maurice. He just needed direction. Tyrone gave Maurice a call, spoke to him for a few hours, giving him basic structure on how to put together a set. Within 2 months Maurice Green was on stage performing his first comedy set, at THE RUSSELL, a well-known open mic in downtown Hartford CT…within 6 months Maurice was opening up Tyrone Burston's first comedy showcase Headlined by Maybach Music Signed comedian, Marcus Banks.
In the past few years, Maurice has grown tremendously as a comic… Hosting dozens of shows, and being booked on a regular basis. He has one over a dozen Comedy Contests, and was a Finalist in New Englands Funniest Comedian of 2021..He's Performed in various cities in NYC, up State New York, Eastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey, countless cities in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Montana, North Carolina, Los Angeles California, and Memphis TN. Along with Sanfranciso and Oakland. He has graced the stages of Famous Clubs such as, Carolines on Broadway, New York Comedy Club, Comix, Funny Bone Hartford, Fourth Wall in LA, Laugh Factory, Hollywood Improv, Chuckles in Memphis, and Tommy T's in Pleasenton California, just to name a few... He has shared the stage with Comedic Legends, such as Howie Bell, Talent the Comedian, and AJ Johnson, as well as formidable up and comers, such as Wassan Jackson, Rob Santos, Reedo Brown, Cee Jay Craxx, Artie Rob and Last Comic Standing's Nikki Carr.
