Harry"O" Singer Guitarist from Wildwood, FL

BIO: Harry “O”, was born in New York City in 1950 and was raised in Harlem. At the age of 13, he taught himself how to play guitar. By 1970 Harry was a regular at the East Village Blues jams being held at Broadway Charlie’s and Dan Lynch’s; sitting in with some of New York’s better-known Blues guitarists such as, Jonathan Kalb and Jon Paris. Later that year he took a class in Jazz Guitar at The New School for Social Research with session guitarist Ron Parker that encouraged him to begin private lessons with Robert Yelin and in 1976 lessons with Ted Meckler. In 1978, he joined The New York Sound Exchange, one of many show/dance bands in which he played for over 14 years, working various hotel lounges 6 nights/week/48 weeks a year. In 1994 after a 2 year stint with Sun recording Artist, Eddie Snow, he formed Oysters Rockefeller, a hard working Blues and R&B based Band that worked extensively throughout the mid-west and released two critically acclaimed CDs. The year 2000 marked the beginning of a two year stay in Chicago, where Harry played with Buddy Guys brother's band, Phil Guy and the Blues Machine. He had the opportunity to play guitar with such blues notables as: Chico Banks, The Bel-Aires, Billy Branch, Buddy Guy, Michael Hill’s Blues Mob, Willie Kent and the Gents, Johnnie Marshall, John Primer, Sonny Rhodes and Bobby Rush. Since landing in central Florida he has played in several bands including: Lori Gill and the Notebenders, the 19 piece Mt. Dora Jazz Band, BackAlley Daddys and has had solo gigs at The Brownwood Hotel, City Fire, The Sunny Pint, Mojo’s Grills (Leesburg, Belleview and 17th St. Ocala), The Charlie Horse, O’Calahan’s, Celebrity Soul Food, Milano’s Italian Grill and The Back Porch. *Harry Has been an S.I.T.
