Meg Mizumoto Violinist from Baltimore, MD

A native of Japan, Meg Mizumoto comes from a unique background as a musician. Inspired by her parents who desired for their children to experience different cultures and environments to broaden their visions, Meg studied in Auckland, New Zealand, Victoria, Canada, and Seattle as an exchange student during her middle and high school years. Meg started her piano studies at the age of 3 and violin studies at the age of 10. Meg holds A.A. in violin performance from Oita Prefectural College of Arts and Culture in Japan. After transferring to the University of Maryland Baltimore County, she continued her studies focused on violin performance; her accomplishment while at UMBC includes an appearance as a soloist with the UMBC Symphony Orchestra and is the recipient of a fellowship to participate as an intern orchestral violinist with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. After completion of her undergraduate studies, Meg started teaching and freelancing. As an active chamber and orchestra musician, she has performed at the Kennedy Center as a part of the Tribute to Wounded Worriers. Meg's strong interest in Jazz, pop, and R&B led her to be featured in concerts, shows, and church services. Having been teaching for more than 10 years, Meg enjoys teaching and working with children. She taught at the D.C. Youth Orchestra and currently teaches private lessons. Being a passionate orchestra musician, Meg has guided her students to successfully pass extremely challenging and competitive auditions, such as the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra and Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra. Meg formed a chamber ensemble “É Classici” with her advanced students in 2016, and the group has performed numerous concerts throughout Maryland.
