I am Dr. Samora Smith, an Interfaith Minister, Pre-Marital Counselor, a BIPOC Wedding Officiant, and the Founder of Common Ground Ceremonies in NYC. I am a Native New Yorker and my multicultural and mixed background affords me the sensitivity when working with couples and families of mixed faith and diverse backgrounds. I bring over 13 years of experience as an Officiant, and I have been blessed to officiate more than 2,500 weddings, vow renewals, and baby blessings in my career. I have recently added a bilingual, Spanish-speaking Officiant (Antonio) to the team, as well as a Native American (Lakota) Chief Elk Bear to offer native blessings and traditional indigenous ceremonies for those who are interested. We are an Inclusive and loving group who are passionate about bringing harmony, healing, and unity to the world. We believe that "love is love" and we are also an LGBTQ-friendly company. Our approach to each ceremony is "couple-centered" and they are always crafted to suit the tone and elements that make it uniquely yours. We are available to travel and officiate in all five boroughs as well as the Tri-State and surrounding areas. The Ceremony is the "heart" of the day and is a chance to highlight what makes you special as a couple. We are committed to helping you create a service that reflects you, your beliefs, and your traditions (religious or non-religious). We also offer elopement packages in Central Park if you prefer an all-inclusive package or micro-wedding.
