Experienced Conductor, Founder and Music Director Douglas Hoppe started the Philharmonia in 2015, and has lead many successful concerts in community centers, libraries, universities, houses of worship, schools, hospitals, and gated communities. The Long Island Philharmonia is available for any sized event or venue, from an individual pianist, keyboardist, or guitarist all the way up to a full orchestra with brass and percussion. The most common formats are wind ensembles, string quartets, string orchestra, and chamber orchestra. We often perform an eclectic program with a great deal of variety, including classical music, light music, jazz and broadway hits, famous pop tunes (such as you might hear on a PBS special), and even opera and choral music. We have an extensive network of pianists and vocalists we work with, and can reach out to any soloists as needed. We perform in both unamplified and/or amplified settings. We have a huge library of music for chamber and orchestral programming on hand. Also several of our members are excellent Jazz cats, with thousands of tunes memorized -- and we have some members who are excellent at Klezmer and other forms of world music as well. Expect to find people on our end to work with you to flexibly develop the right concept and achieve maximum impact for your event. We have a lot of hands-on knowhow and can prevent a lot of mistakes from happening as we adapt on the go, performing in peak form constantly year round while making use of our excellent network of contacts that can make our performances peak experiences for all involved.
