Ghost town evolved When to seasoned musicians, Stu Oconnor and Steve Moszkowicz, met up through several jam sessions and decided to team up as a duo. After a year or so of cherry picking songs we both loved and new well for area gigs, the idea of Ghost town emerged in the aftermath of the bleak, solitary times of the Covid pandemic. Tired of the bar band grind of playing popular music “exactly like the record,” we shared a fondness for stylized arrangements that exposed the gritty undercarriage of songs with realistic messages and the roots based sound that we love. Those musical traits, combined with a bleak view of the world undercut by a pandemic, economic and political disarray, and darker prospects for general psychological stability, is the goal of ghost town. And lest you mistake us for a couple of dour old farts, rest assured we can swing with the best of them and enjoy the old odd funny dance number like the Faces “three button hand me down,” Hardly the province of those humorless, in our estimation. In addition to the acoustic duo of Steve and Stu, Ghost town will also expand to a full band format for larger or rowdier gigs. Having performed in a combined total of well over a dozen bands and duos between them, with pro studio experience as well O’Connor and Moszkowicz have a number of musical friends at the ready for an expanded lineup.
