John Ruzicka (acoustic favorites) Acoustic Guitarist from Scituate, MA

John "the Skipper" Ruzicka has been playing guitar and singing for more than 25 years. After honing his chops in bands and open mic nights in Texas and San Diego, he moved to Massachusetts and developed the acoustic solo act that's become a favorite at breweries, restaurants, private parties, corporate events, and weddings throughout the South Shore and Cape Cod. Using a loop pedal and vocal harmonizer, John builds layers of sound that fill a room without overpowering it. He reads the crowd, adjusts the energy to fit the occasion, and is just as comfortable providing the perfect backdrop for a cocktail hour as he is getting a room full of people singing along. Since moving to the Boston area, he's performed at the legendary House of Blues Boston along with countless local venues, community events, and private celebrations. Sticking with time-tested favorites, John's set list is recognizable—though anything but typical. He specializes in deeper cuts from beloved artists, unexpected genre jumps, mashups, and reimagined versions of classic songs. In any given hour you might hear a rocking take on Lionel Richie followed by some '90s hip hop, then a faithful rendition of Bob Seger, Van Morrison, or the Allman Brothers.
