The hobos started as 2 friends playing 3 songs on Friday nights in Kure Beach. They bought some amplifiers and microphones to be heard by a larger audience and their song catalog continues to grow. With over 50 songs and almost 4 hours of well-practiced covers, the hobos usually have their crowd enjoying the night with fun, recognizable tunes, and a few deep cuts to keep it interesting. Chris plays lead guitar while John accompanies with rhythm. Both members take turns singing the songs they enjoy sharing with their audience. Their covers span over 6 decades and multiple genres with classic rock, country, punk, folk and alternative music. The Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Cure, Social Distortion and Jack Johnson are just a small sample of the eclectic collection of artists the hobos pay tribute to in their shows. Playing around the Pleasure Island and Wilmington area for public and private events, they have performed weekend gigs at Island Beverage, an arts festival at Riverview Restaurant, a fundraiser at Carolina Beach Surf Shop as well as multiple private birthday parties and neighborhood events.
