About
Hello there! Thanks for visiting my page. Here's a bit about me and how I can help you with your special event:

I have had the privilege of providing music for MANY, MANY wineries, wine bars, cocktail parties, weddings, dinners, restaurants, concerts, and other public and private events in my career. I have been especially busy performing since moving to the Pacific NW in August 2008. I have played for events all throughout this region from Seattle to Eastern Washington, the Oregon Coast to the Columbia Gorge, Southern and Central Oregon, the Mt. Rainer area, etc. I have played at many different venues in this region including: Benson Hotel, Tiffany Center, Portland Art Museum, Portland City Grill, Portland Hilton, RingSide Fish House, Andina restaurant, Black Butte Ranch, Timberline Lodge, Surfsands Resort, Stephanie Inn, Ecola State Park, Tu Tu Tun Lodge, Cave B Inn, Skamania Lodge, Crystal Mountain, many McMenamins locations, private residences, and many other locales. I have also served many corporate clients such as NIKE, Sunset Porsche, Whole Foods, New Seasons, University Of Portland, KRUG Champagne, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Otak Inc., Umpqua Bank, Macy's, The Language Conservancy, The Flawless Foundation, Silverlink, PCOGS, and others.

My playing style and repertoire is largely influenced by my classical guitar and jazz studies, however, as you can see from my song list I play MUCH more than that. I also play pop, Spanish, Brazilian, South American, Baroque, blues, original, and other styles as well. If you have specific songs/pieces you would like incorporated into your event or if you would like me to focus on a specific style of music please let me know. I am more than happy to learn them or to tailor the playlist to meet your wishes.

At my performances you can expect to hear nylon and steel string acoustic guitars. I primarily play solo instrumental guitar music, however, I also occasionally use a loop pedal and electric guitar which allows me to create the sound of a full band which can help keep the musical airwaves fresh and interesting. Just let me know what type of services (classical guitar, instrumental pop, jazz, etc.) you would like and I will gladly prepare the music according to your request. I also play regularly with my guitar duo which plays jazz primarily. Having a duo has a different energy level and a fuller sound in general. Please let me know if you are interested in having me play in this format.

I have had the privilege of working with MANY different clients over the years and I strive to create a pleasant working experience with each one. This includes brides/grooms, restaurant owners, private party hosts, corporate companies, shop owners, and others. I make a diligent effort to respond to all emails and phone calls in a timely manner, to be as clear with communication as possible, and seek to fulfill the wishes of whomever I am serving. I should also mention that I really enjoy what I do. It has been my dream to be a professional guitarist since I was 12 years old. I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I love for a living.

Thanks again for visiting here. I hope to hear from you!

My husband and I am so happy to have found John Wayland Harr for our wedding ceremony music! We were married in a beautiful gothic style church and really wanted the music to match, elegant and unique to our personal tastes. John was wonderful to work with. He gave guidance in choosing our music by suggesting songs that fit the style I described. He also guided us in the timeline of music played during the ceremony which was really helpful. He was always very timely in our correspondence and arrived very early on the wedding day to set-up his equipment. Afterwards, everyone complimented the beautiful music :) John Harr is an excellent choice! Thanks John!

John was really lovely to work with. He was accommodating, timely, flexible and organized, and his performance was just stellar! If you are seeking a solo guitarist for your event, John is a great bet. He also worked well with our other performers, and took the initiative to coordinate with them onsite to ensure a smooth performance. He wowed our group with his skill and we couldn't be happier. Thank you, John!

John was AMAZING at our wedding. We asked him to learn two new songs for our ceremony, and not only did he oblige, but they were wonderful! Many of our guests commented on how beautiful his playing was and asked how they can find him in the future! Thank you SO MUCH John for being a part of our special day, your talent and professionalism exceeded our expectations and helped make our wedding dreams come true!

My event was a house party...Mother's 90th (25-30 people). It rained hard all day and all were indoors however John didn't let the elevated noise level bother him in the least!! He played on in spite of the noise of conversation... a baby crying ...and even played while answering questions for a couple of the children ...didn't miss a note or a beat!! How did you do that??? I would have given anything to have his music all to myself.. his skill level is phenomenal. He even sat at the piano in my home and skillfully played a few tunes. Thanks John for a great job! Everybody asked me how I found you... and Mother (just turned 90) thought you were wonderful!

John recently played for our backyard wedding, and we couldn't have been happier! He responded quickly and thoroughly with our questions, came over to house prior to the wedding to demonstrate some songs, and was very accommodating with our requests. We had a friend play a song during the ceremony and John kindly offered to let him use his amp and microphone. He has a great manner and professional attitude, and many guests commented on how beautifully he played. He added a lovely feel to our ceremony - we would highly recommend his services!

John was absolutely outstanding! He didn't stop playing for the entire wedding. His repertoire was excellent and was very flexible and accommodating to any suggestions my now husband and I had. We were all very impressed with his skills. Everyone wanted to know where we found him. He was absolutely professional in every sense of the word. Answered emails right away and was on top of everything. We will definitely recommend him and will for sure hire him again once another even comes up. Thank you Jhon for making our special day even more special!! M&J

John Wayland played at my wedding and was absolutely astounding. I had envisioned a romantic solo guitar sound playing in the background. I requested a few songs but I left the rest up to him. He played throughout my entire ceremony and his selections were perfect. John did a beautiful job of capturing the romantic ceremony I envisioned. I am beyond happy with his performance. I recommend him highly. He's a wonderful performer but also diligent in his emails. He responds quickly and clearly. It is also apparent in his email responses that he has thoroughly read and understood yours. I can’t remember a time I was this happy with a service. John is AMAZING!

John provided us with an afternoon of delightful and stimulating music. We used his gifts for a private party and his selections of music enhanced the event tremendously. John was professional in every aspect, thoughtful about how the event should be handled, prompt and very gracious to interact with. I highly recommend him and hope to have the privilege to engage his services in the future again. Thanks John!

I was impressed with Mr. Harr from my first correspondance with him through the last song he played our wedding night. Mr. Harr was easy to talk to and he was very prompt returning calls and emails. He went above and beyond by learning new songs just because we requested them, and he had been practicing all the songs that would be played for our ceremony to make sure they sounded beautiful. When Mr. Harr started playing the wedding processional song, I got chills because it sounded so hauntingly lovely. I would recommend Mr. Harr to anyone needing a professional and talented musician for their event. -Christine Carter
