About
Beat Street plays all 80's and more! They can play a full set of classic rock and soul party songs from the 60's to today, or they can transform into an all out crazy 80's dance party. Either way, they are the perfect band for any occasion.

Beat Street is a high energy, extremely versatile dance band featuring male and female lead vocals, guitars, keyboards, and a thumpin' rhythm section. Since forming in late 2003, they have been having a great time wowing crowds and getting parties started with their infectious grooves and soaring four and five-part harmonies. They strive to not only perform great music, but to create a show and atmosphere that is perfect for any occasion. Beat Street plays events of all types, including wedding receptions, corporate events, private parties, festivals, fairs, and fundraisers. No matter the occasion, they know how to work the crowd and help create a memorable affair.

Beat Street is well known for taking the time to craft the perfect set list from their vast archive of popular music that goes perfectly with each venue and event. They understand that the right song at the right moment can make all the difference. There's always a little something for everyone in the crowd because they cover Top 40 and classic rock and soul from the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties, as well as music from the current decade.

“Our goal is to play songs that everyone will recognize in the first few bars, songs that will pull people of all ages onto the dance floor and keep them there!”

As your complete entertainment coordinators, Beat Street offers custom song selection, announcements, ceremonial and dinner music, stage lighting, and much more, with a hands on approach to every tiny detail.

Here's what past clients have said:

"Beat Street is much more than a band; they create the entire event experience. As an event planner I know the importance of good music, it quite frankly determines the success of the event. The music must be able to adapt to the crowd and set the ambience. Beat Street does just that. They are professional, fun and talented musicians. They have a wide range of music to choose from which makes them a perfect choice for every event."
-Monica Karst
Santa Cruz Socialites

"Beat Street played at our early morning fundraiser for the Human Race Walkathon & Fun Run on Saturday May 9th. Not only were they great to communicate with leading up to the event, but they brought their talent and energy and operated on all cylinders on stage at 8am! Their passion for music is contagious as you couldn't help but dance! We absolutely loved every moment with them and hope to work with them again soon."

Kelly E Mercer
Human Race

"After seeing and hearing Beat Street, my husband and I decided they'd be perfect for our beach wedding reception. They are fun, entertaining, and all have amazing voices. They have a huge range, and can play anything from the Beatles to modern rock and alternative music. You name it, they will learn it! We even had songs that weren't on their play list, and they learned them just to make our special day the best it could be. Everyone of our guests kept asking where we found them, and I've actually had some calls and emails since, with relatives wanting information about them. Also, when we had mentioned we needed someone to announce the entire itinerary during the reception, and play music for the ceremony, they jumped right on board without a 2nd thought. They were naturals! Beat Street made our day so personal and perfect. On a wedding day, you want perfection, and I would recommend them to anyone hands down. They gave us memories that will last us a lifetime!" -Kinzie Fink-Thompson & Jason Thompson, Aptos, Ca.

“This group of mostly educators knows how to rock! When I am in the mood to dance these guys deliver. The next time I need a band I will look no further than Beat Street at my event.” - R. Garcia, Santa Cruz

"Once I got going, I danced non-stop to Beat Street. I don't know what more you could ask of a band."- D. Hickok, Watsonville

Kip and Beat Street were an amazing band who went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The guests at our wedding raved about the band and danced through the night having a great time. I would highly recommend Beat Street for any function you may want live entertainment for.

Kip and the Beat Street band performed at my kid’s school carnival Saturday evening. They were very accommodating on the time and arrangement, affordable, and we really loved their music. The kids and adults had a great time dancing to their beats, and I would hire them again, both for large events like this carnival and for smaller events like weddings and major birthday celebrations.

Beat Street were amazingly easy to work with. We live in Australia and we were able to email and call back-and-forth whenever convenient for us. Their band learned a couple of new songs that we wanted and made our wedding a night to remember. Their vocals and sound quality was matched by no other and we would highly recommend working with Kip and his band for anyone in the future. They were flexible on our timings and played well into the night. Such a friendly band! The whole wedding loved dancing and singing to their music.

Beat Street did a superb, A+ job at our wedding. All the guests loved the music and danced the whole time. My Dad played a song for our first dance and the band was extremely accommodating. They even plugged him in for a sound check prior to show time. Any schedule adjustments were easy to solve with Kip, on the phone prior to the event or in person during the event. My bride and I picked out our favorite songs from their extensive song list and they nailed it. They even learned 2 songs we special requested. When's the last time you heard The Clash or Jimmy Cliff from a wedding band? Beat Street has the equipment, skill and experience for an epic event.

I would recommend Beat Street to anyone who wants to keep the music going, the energy pumping, and who wants to work with super nice and talented musicians! Big shout out to Kip and Mark for helping me out so much. It rained at my wedding (completely wasn't on my radar), and they rolled with the punches like pros. Also, Jennifer was amazing! We asked the band to learn our song - A Thousand Years by Christina Parri - and she nailed it! I honestly had so much fun dancing to them and a lot of my guests came up to me and told me how amazing they were. They totally helped save my day and made my wedding so much fun. I can't thank them enough!
