About
As a professional piper, I currently play in two pipe bands in Oklahoma. I have performed at numerous funeral services, military honor services, birthday parties, weddings, church services including Native American churches and, a Cowboy Church in Wichita Falls, TX. I have also played for both public and private schools from elementary grades to University level institutions. In Oct. 2015, I was honored to be invited to play the pipes at the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Memorial Service for the four individuals that lost their lives as well as the many injured and their families that survived the tragic incident that occurred during the Oklahoma State University Homecoming Parade in Stillwater, OK. I have also had the honor of playing my bagpipes over several graves in Arlington National Cemetery. Notably, General of the Army, George C. Marshall's grave; General of the Army, Omar Bradley's grave; and Capt. Johnny Michael Spann's grave in October 2012 (all pictured in the gallery). Captain 'Mike' Spann, USMC, was the first American to die in the "war on terror" after Sept. 11, 2001. By invitation, I was honored to meet the Spann family in July 2015 at their home in Winfield, Alabama where I played my pipes for them in honor of their son, Mike Spann. I have performed in several area churches including Asbury United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, (both in Tulsa), First Presbyterian Church in Claremore for Reformation Sunday, First Baptist Church in Sapulpa for their annual Patriotic program on July 3rd. (2016) & the First Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas for their Christmas cantata, "Peace on Earth" (December 2016 & 2017). I have been invited to put on programs at several Lions Clubs and Rotary International Clubs (Tulsa - Henryetta - Okmulgee - Bartlesville) as well as several Senior Citizen's organization. In July 2016 & 2018, I was invited to play for a Gideon's State Fund Rally for the Okmulgee Camp. (Pictured is Gideon International speaker from Ghana, West Africa, Israel George Akuaku). I am honored to have been invited to play my bagpipes at the Oklahoma State Capitol, House of Representatives, for Tartan Day, April 6, 2017 by invitation of the Speaker of the House. (See photo gallery)

My piping repertoire includes patriotic tunes, Christmas tunes, traditional Scottish & Irish tunes, wedding marches and tunes of faith. My attire is that of a traditional Scottish Highland Piper. Over the years, my piping has taken me to numerous states including but not limited to the states of Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Georgia, Virginia, North Dakota and, of course, Oklahoma. A majority of my requests comes from the Tulsa, Bartlesville, Stillwater, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Springdale & Rogers Arkansas areas. In November 2015, I played the pipes for a 90 year old veteran's surprise birthday party at the request of the Bartlesville Lions Club. I have been invited back to the Bartlesville Lions Club to play my pipes in January 2017 again for the veteran. During the spring of 2016, I have played for the "shotgun" start of three golf tournaments, two in Tulsa and Indian Springs in Broken Arrow. AAA Oklahoma recognizes men and women in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol each year at an awards luncheon. In 2018, I was invited to play my pipes for this event to be held at the new Edmond Convention Center in Edmond, OK. The event was held on March 29th. Pictured is OHP "Trooper of the Year" Brian Costanza and his trusted piper at the awards luncheon in March 2017.

I am a graduate of Kemper Military School & College in Boonville, MO with continued studies at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist University. I am married to my wife, Linda, of 50 years and we are blessed with three grown children and seven beautiful grandchildren. I am honorably discharged from the US Army having served proudly during the Vietnam era.

If you are looking for a piper and the sound of the Great Highland Bagpipes for any occasion, I am a click away. I will work with the client and, if needed, I can recommend tunes that will be appropriate for your special occasion. I would be pleased to provide you pricing and referrals upon request. All inquiries are welcome. PLEASE NOTE: Video available upon request.........

Kent was an excellent piper in every way imaginable. He was very professional, accommodating, respectful, & fulfilled every wish/request for a lovely funeral for my special daddy. My family, guests, relatives, friends, complimented Kent on his performance & me for hiring/making such a lovely service for all. My long-time Pastor said it was a performance like no other he had seen. Many thanks to Kent. Definitely saved his number in my phone! Dr Kennette Hughes

My son's wedding took place in a small backyard under a full moon with the Amazing Grace Piper filling the air with magical bagpipe melodies. Kent Pharoah was indeed as magically charming as was his music. He told the story of the songs he played for us as he intermingled with the guests then he faded into the background and let the pipes surround the ceremony space with beautiful tones until the ceremony began as the bride walked down the aisle to the wedding march. From the moment I booked, Kent, he kept in contact with myself and my son to make sure every detail of his performance was exactly what we wanted. My sincere thanks to Kent...highly recommend!

Gosh, if you had a 10 rating i would have used it. Kent is the most concerning, caring and sensitive pipemaster. He was exceptional in his organization skills of making sure I was covering all bases for our graveside service. He called the sexton, the funeral home, went over and beyond of what I was not thinking of to make our day and service run smooth.it rained of course. I feared I would not hear these beautiful tunes on his bagpipe. The funeral home director held a giant umbrella over him to protect both man, clothing and instument. God bless Kent, thrilled to have him accept our invitation to come back to our old family home for nurishment and conversation. WOW!

Amazing Grace Piper’s Response:

Thank you for the kind words. My appreciation to Potts Funeral Home employee, Vern, who graciously sheltered me from the elements as I played for the service. And, I tip my glengarry to the chef for the delicious BBQ meal following. It was a genuine pleasure making your and your family's acquaintance on that rainy Saturday afternoon in Independence, KS.
