We hired Don Neil to play bagpipes at my stepfather's funeral and would highly recommend him to others. Don is quite talented and knowledgeable about the instrument, and the music was beautiful. What I appreciated most, however, was how immediately responsive Don was to my back-and-forth emails in the planning stage and how accommodating he was, both with his schedule (rescheduling a personal doctor appointment which conflicted with our event) and with our song selections (he learned a new-to-him song for us!). Thank you, Don, for going above and beyond!
I took up the bagpipes 20 years ago, due to my Scottish heritage and love for the instrument. Since that time I have played in several pipe bands. I have also competed and placed in piping competitions held at Scottish Highland games. I have attended piping workshops; where I took instruction from prominent professional pipers like: John Wilson and Alasdair Gillies. All with the intent of improving my ability to play a difficult instrument that can produce a beautiful sound when played correctly.
My goal is to provide a positive memorable experience by adding this music to any; wedding, funeral, golf tournament, birthday or desired requested event. If you feel that the Highland Bagpipes would be a great addition to your event, please contact me to make arrangements. I am available to perform in the Birmingham area and points north in Alabama. Rates vary based on travel and event type and would consider any location given sufficient notice.
