If you need a bagpiper, I'm available for any occasion from weddings, parties, and corporate events to special ceremonies, funerals and memorial services. I'll travel to any location in the Central Texas area to help you make your event memorable. My primary instrument is the Great Highland Bagpipe, which is what most people think of when they hear the word "bagpipes." It is, of course, very proud and majestic, but also quite loud. If you need something that's more appropriate for an intimate indoor setting, I can also provide music on the Scottish Smallpipes. Samples of both instruments are available above. I have been playing the bagpipes professionally since 2000, and have helped many people add that special touch that only bagpipes can bring. I have won dozens of awards in solo competition as a nationally ranked member of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association. I also spent a number of years as a member of Silver Thistle Pipes & Drums, Austin's only competition pipe band, and have competed around the United States and internationally. I traveled with Silver Thistle to Glasgow, Scotland in 2011 to compete in the World Pipe Band Championships. I can also teach bagpipe and guitar lessons for beginning to intermediate level, and provide services such as bag tie-in, reed set-up and tuning, refurbishing, and repairs. In addition to my experience with bagpipes, I am a formally trained musician, with more than 30 years of study, performance, and competition – including guitar, bass, saxophone, and general music theory.
