Kat McDowell Acoustic Guitarist from Los Angeles, CA

Born in Tokyo and raised in New Zealand, Kat has always loved music. While drawing inspiration from artists like Foo Fighters and Jason Mraz, Kat's Ocean Pop sound is definitely her own. Her live show is very upbeat and highly interactive! Her current standard setup is as a duo with her husband. It's a medley of rotating instruments with acoustic guitar, ukulele, ukulele bass and percussion and they can deliver such an energetic band sound that people find it hard to believe it's only two people. They have become a hit at LAX and play a weekly residency in the lounge at Tom Bradley Terminal playing a mix of covers and original songs. She has played over 1000 live shows, from playing festivals in New Zealand and Australia, touring Japan every year, performing at colleges throughout the United states and has opened for artists like Switchfoot and Colbie Callait. As a singer songwriter, some of Kat's accomplishments have been going to no. 1 on the Vinyl charts in Japan after her Single sold out in only two days, and most recently, Kat was chosen as a top 5 finalist in the Guitar Center Singer-Songwriter competition out of 15,000+ submissions and played to a packed out crowd at the Troubador in Los Angeles. When Kat's not singing for a princess in Japan, girls in a safe house in Nicaragua or at a college in Oregon, she's baking cookies, or surfing or playing ukulele at the beach!
