Originally from Medellin, Colombia, Mariana has 28 years of dance experience and expertise. Originally, Mariana was classically trained in Western dance forms including Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Modern, as well as Flamenco and Latin ballroom. She credits these dance beginnings to leading her to Middle Eastern dance (raqs sharqi or belly dance) and what has now become a deep love for the art form.
Mariana has and continues to perform at all the top restaurants, hookah lounges and nightclubs in and around the city, including (to name a few): Fez, Casablanca, Marrakesh, CousCous, Norma's, and Alamodak. She has also performed at over 100 private events including events for universities, and celebrities. Past events include: wedding receptions, mehndi celebrations, quinceaneras, anniversary, birthday, retirement, theme, family reunions, baptisms/christenings, and holiday celebrations.
Mariana is a consummate professional, and regularly and exclusively trains with top Egyptian and Middle Eastern/North African instructors, to continue to hone and perfect specifically the Egyptian dance aesthetic and technique. Therefore, you are always guaranteed an authentic performance. Mariana's performances include her mastery of veil, candle tray balancing, sword balancing, cane (assaya) dance, impressive Isis wing dances (*now with LED lights!), the playing of finger cymbals (zils), powerful dancing to drum (doumbek), and the use of fan veils/or feather fans.
