Denise La Grassa's journey is an unlikely one. Following the permanent closing of Lincoln College where she transformed the Jazz Studies program into a modern, practical Music program, this late-blooming Chicago native pivoted full-time to songwriting and performance. It's a journey she's documenting with the film 'North of 40.'
If you're new to this soulful, bluesy talent, her band evokes the power of Grace Slick and the sophistication of the Tedeschi-Trucks Band.
In concert, you'll hear a mix of 80% La Grassa originals to 20% smart and often surprising blues and soul covers from legends including Buddy Guy and Lucinda Williams.
