As a guitarist, songwriter, and singer; Michael Russell has developed a unique blend of electric blues, roots rock 'n'roll, and americana. In every song, Russell's guitar tells a story with passion and soul while his relatable lyrics paint a picture that all types of people are drawn to. Michael Russell consistently shares a heartfelt delivery of his music with the audience that inevitably yields a strong connection to viewers and listeners. From traditional slow blues standards, to original upbeat rockin' dance songs, Mr. Russell and his band guarantee to never have a dull moment. Having released his debut album 'Six Strings Away' in the fall of 2017; Russell primarily focuses on sharing his large catalog of original works. However, Michael and his band enjoy playing covers of their favorite artists including; Stevie Ray Vaughn, B.B. King, The Rolling Stones, Albert King, Tom Petty, Jimi Hendrix, Elmore James, The Doors, Johnny Cash, Albert Collins, and many more. The band can take requests and is open to preparing special material for individual events. Michael Russell's performance will showcase his special blend of stone-cold blues guitar style, old school rock 'n' roll energy, and timeless americana songwriting. Michael Russell performs primarily as a 'blues-rock' trio with a dynamic and groovy rhythm section comprised of two other accomplished musicians; Ben Colbeck playing the bass guitar (Colbeck is also the guitarist of rock band 'The Lolos') and Garrett Smart playing the drums and singing harmony/backup vocals (Smart is also the drummer for country singer Chad Bushnell). These two play an integral part in shaping the foundation of Michael Russell's new take on a classic sound. Additionally; The 'Michael Russell Trio' has also created acoustic or 'stripped down' versions of their performance and enjoy providing background music at more 'mellow' or quieter venues. Michael Russell does also perform as a solo act. Mr. Russell has extensive experience performing as a live session guitarist throughout the northern California region as well as writing and performing with many other original blues and rock bands along the way. Mr. Russell's dedication to his craft, his love for performing, and natural ability to connect with any audience make him and his band an unmatched investment for any live music setting.
