David is such a joy to work with. So professional and engaging. We love what he brings to our events.
My name is David Brown, and I am a blues/rock solo guitar and vocal act. I have been playing live music for 18 years now. Originally I hail from North Carolina, but after being stationed here in the Bay Area with the Coast Guard, I decided that I liked the area so much that I should stay a while after my enlistment ended in April of this year (2019). I was raised listening to Country music and singing in church choirs almost exclusively until around the age of 15 when I discovered rock-n-roll. My world exploded and my musical influences became more three dimensional. I became obsessed with acts like The Beatles, The Doors, Janis Joplin, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Queen, Bob Dylan... the list goes on and on. However, it wasn't until I found an old, beat up copy of Muddy Waters 1975 album "Hard Again" that my fascination with the blues began. Through my exploration of this genre I began to see music as something tangible. Something I could learn to manipulate, to control, and ultimately to express myself with. By the end of 2000, at the age of 17, I purchased my first guitar and began to teach myself in earnest, playing every spare minute I could find and stopping only when my hands became so cramped or my finger tips so raw, bruised, and bloody that I had no other choice but to put my guitar down. It wasn't long before I was offered my first live gig and have been playing live, both solo and with a band, ever since. I have the ability to play and sing with raw passion and edgy grit, as well as with subtle smoothness and gentle persuasion. After nearly a decade and a half of live experience, I have the refinement and practical wisdom to know which style to draw on for a given situation, finding that generally a combination of the two is warranted. I would love the opportunity to play a show for you and share my love and passion for music! If you decide to book me for an event, be sure to send a list of songs that you would like to hear, and if there are any I don't know already, I'll do my best to learn them. I'll always show up on time, dressed for the occasion, clean, and sober. If there is a reason that I think I'll be late, I will reach out to you ahead of time. Communication is key!
