About Vendor

Learn more about this vendor for your event.

I've been drawing caricatures since I was a kid. I've drawn them professionally since studying at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh—under the mighty John Johns—back in the 70s. I keep it simple: a Sharpie and a sketch pad. A caricature takes around 3 minutes. My philosophy is that a caricature should look more like you than you do. I'm an artist taking you seriously enough to capture something of your character as well as your likeness. Besides caricaturing, I'm a children's book illustrator with over 65 titles to my credit. I've been named Illustrator of the Year by the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association. I won a Reuben Award for Book Illustration from the National Cartoonists' Society. I travel to schools and colleges to speak about illustration, graphic design and children's literature.

PromReviewed on May 13, 2022From Clymer, NY

This was unique and fun for the students at our prom and provided an alternative to dancing. Mr. Manders was professional, accommodating, and kind! I could never say enough about this experience, but instead, have already provided his contact information to a parent who might be interested in booking for a graduation party. Thank you, Mr. Manders, for a memorable opportunity for our students!

WeddingReviewed on September 18, 2021From Pittsburgh, PA

He was WONDERFUL!! 10/10. It was such a busy day that my Husband and I almost didn’t get a chance to get our picture done. Thankfully the bride and groom can cut the line at their own wedding ??. Not a single person had a bad thing to say, all rave reviews. Thank you so much John!!

John Manders:

Thank you, Kat! It was a pleasure to meet you and your beautiful family. What a fun crowd! My best wishes for a blessed life together. —John

What a nice crowd of fun people! And what ugly sweaters! It was a treat to meet and draw you all. I had a marvelous time. Thank you so much for including me.
